JeM militant killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, July 5 (IBNS) A top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, said officials.

Sources told IBNS that on specific information about the presence of some militants in village Pastuna of  Tral, Army, Police and Counter insurgency forces cordoned off the area at around 4:30 a.m Saturday.

Reports said as the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the militants hiding in the house opened fire  on the search party and later fled from the spot.

In a retaliatory fire, a militant received bullet injuries and later he was found dead in a nearby forest, said police.

Meanwhile, Police Media Cell issued a statement in which they said operation is on and during gunfight one army personnel was injured.
