Jharkhand assembly polls: JP Nadda vows to protect indigenous rights, no tribal status for children of 'infiltrators'

Palamu (Jharkhand): The rights of the local communities will be preserved and the children of an "infiltrator" father and a local Adivasi mother wouldn't be granted the ‘tribal’ status if the BJP comes to power in Jharkhand, stated Union Minister and BJP national president JP Nadda on Saturday, media reports said.

"Every Bangladeshi will be thrown out of Jharkhand and, along with that, the way they marry tribal sisters and want rights on their tribal land, the children born from them will not be given any tribal rights," Nadda said while addressing an election rally at Bishrampur in Palamu district, reported India Today.

He accused the JMM chief and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren of giving shelter illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and assured that all such infiltrators will be driven out of the state once the BJP gets back to power.

Describing the constituents of the current JMM-led government as “corrupt and thieves", he urged the people to change the "single-engine" government with the "double-engine" model.

Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had slammed out at the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government for "according a red-carpet welcome to Bangladeshi infiltrators" in the state, and iterated that "such forces will be deported as soon as the BJP forms government in the state".

Shah also alleged that the JMM and the Congress were spreading misinformation that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will take away the tribal rights.

He clarified that the saffron party will not include the tribals in the ambit of the Uniform Civil Code.

"The JMM-led coalition has laid out red carpet for Bangladeshi infiltrators, who settle in Jharkhand and grab tribal land, employment of youths and indulge in anti-national activities. Let the BJP regime form. They will be deported and not a bird will be allowed to cross the border," Shah said at an election rally at Potka in East Singhbhum.

Elections to the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will be held in two phases, on November 13 and November 20. Counting of votes will take place on November 23.
