Jitan Ram Manjhi boycotts Nitish Kumar's human chain protest against liquor

Patna, Jan 11 (TheBIharPost/IBNS): Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) has announced to boycott the human chain programme of Nitish Kumar government over prohibition.

HAM headed by former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi is a key ally of the NDA in Bihar.


“We have termed the existing liquor law as “Talibani” (draconian). Supporting the human chain programme over prohibition will thus mean withdrawing from our previous stand and admitting that what we said earlier was wrong,” Manjhi told the media on Wednesday.

He said his party would not support the liquor laws until there are certain amendments in it and also suggested the BJP not to support the government’s human chain programme.

The BJP has announced to participate in the human chain programme.

The Bihar state government has planned to form the world’s longest human chain on January 21 to promote alcohol ban in the state where the liquor ban already remained imposed.
