J&K encounter ends

Srinagar, May 20 (IBNS) The brief gunfight which starts Tuesday evening in Shopian District of south Kashmir has ended with both the militants escaping from the spot in darkness.

Earlier, a fierce gun battle is going on between security forces and militants in south Kashmir's Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said on Tuesday. 

On specific information about the presence of some militants at Lonepora village in Heff Shirmal area of the district, Army’s 55 RR and SOG cordoned off the whole area.

Security forces lifted the siege of the village early in the morning after failing to establish contact with the militants.
