Srinagar, July 31 (IBNS) Suspected militants targeted a security check point on Baramulla-Srinagar highway in Pattan area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district which left four police men, including a Station House Officer, seriously injured on Friday.

According to reports, attackers  were traveling in a Tavera passenger vehicle and opened fire when their vehicle was stopped at a check point by the Kashmir Police.

“Taking advantage of darkness, rebels managed to escape from the spot and the cops could not retaliate as they wanted to avoid any collateral damage at the check point where several vehicles had been stopped,” a senior police official said.

The injured policemen were identified as SHO Pattan Mohammad Saleem, his PSO Dilshad Ahmad, Constable Mushtaq Ahmad and driver of the car Bilal Ahmad Gojri.

All the injured were shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment.
