J&K: Two tourists from West Bengal killed in in avalanche

Srinagar, June 10 (IBNS) Two tourists from West Bengal were killed and as many, including a driver, were injured when the vehicle in which they were traveling came under a huge snow avalanche in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

According to reports, the cab (JK10- 5859), which was  carrying three tourists from Kolkata, was on its way to Ladakh  when a snow avalanche hit the area and buried the Xylo on reaching  Khardlunga, a mountain pass, at an altitude of over 5,300m in the region.

In the incident, four people, three of them from a family and the cab driver identified as Abdul Haq were hit by the avalanche.

Two tourists were identified as Foumy Basu and Rajshree Basu.

They  died while another tourist Palaman Basu and driver Abdul Haq were rescued in injured condition and shifted to a hospital.
