J&K witnesses fourth phase of Assembly polls

Srinagar, Dec 14 (IBNS): Amid tight security and severe cold, people were seen marching towards the polling booths and long queues of electorate were seen outside the booths to exercise their franchise for the fourth phase of Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections on Sunday.
Elections commenced in the 18 constituencies including Hazratbal, Zadibal, Eidgah,Khanyar,Haba Kadal,Amira Kadal, Sonwar, Batamaloo, Anantnag,Dooru,Kokernag, Shangus, Bijbehara, Pahalgam, Wachi Shopian, Samba (SC) and Vijaypur, spread across four districts of Srinagar, Anantnag, Shopian and Samba.
 
Over 14 lakh voters are eligible to decide the fate of political bigwigs like Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and former chief minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
 
A total of 1,890 polling stations have been set up. 
 
Polling started at 8 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m. 
 
After the fifth round of polling Dec on 20, the votes will be counted Dec 23.
