Washington, Sept 20 (IBNS): US Secretary of State John Kerry has now directed Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to prevent terrorists from using the latter's country as safe havens.

"The Secretary reiterated the need for Pakistan to prevent all terrorists from using Pakistani territory as safe havens," a State Department readout of Kerry's meeting with Sharif, available with the media, said.

The statement also said Sharif and Kerry expressed "strong concern with recent violence in Kashmir."

Kerry also expressed concern in connection with the terrorist attack on the army base attack in Uri sector on Sunday.

The came just two days after a militant attack in Uri left 18 indian soldiers martyred.

Four terrorists, believed to have crossed the border from Pakistan, sneaked into the Army camp located near the LoC in Uri and launched the attack on Sunday.

The deadly attack took place when most of the soldiers were asleep.

India has blamed Pakistan for the attack.
