Journalist Purna Kanta Nath dies

Guwahati, Mar 7 (IBNS) : Journalist and writer Purna Kanta Nath died at his residence at Jamuguri village in Assam's Nagaon district on Friday.

He was 74.

The former vice president of Nagaon district Sahitya Sabha and president of Press Club Bebejia had wrote books, articles and poems.

Starting journalism in 1960, Purna Kanta Nath had worked in most of Assamese and English dailies published from Assam.

Assam state government had given state level teacher award to him in 1998.

Sadau Asom Gramya Puthibharal Santha had given Panditprabar Krishna Kanta Handique award to the journalist in 2013.

MP Rajen Gohain, former Assam Education Minister Gautam Bora, former MLA Girindra Baruah and several organizations condoled Nath's dead and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
