Hyderabad, Jan 31 (IBNS) Eight bogies of a train were set on fire by a violent mob of Kapu community in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening demanding reservation and backward caste status for them, said media reports.
The Kapu community protesters set the train on fire at Tuni railway station in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh while they also blocked the National Highway 16, torched police stations and vehicles.

Reports said all passengers of the Ratnachal Express they set on fire are safe.

Reports said the violence started from a public meeting of the community at Tuni, which is about 100 km from Vishakapatnam.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appealed to the people to maintain law and order. He tweeted: "Shocked and saddened by the incident at Tuni. We are closely monitoring the situation. Responsible people will be taken to justice."
