Karnataka Assembly adjourned over D.K. Ravi death
Bengaluru/Kolar, Mar 17 (IBNS): Protests erupted in Karnataka Assembly on Tuesday over the death of IAS officer D.K. Ravi.
According to reports, the Assembly was adjourned after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members rushed to the well of the house demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into his death.
Earlier in the day, locals called for a shutdown in Karnataka's Kolar district.
Unruly scenes were also witnessed outside the Bengaluru hospital where Ravi's body has been kept.
D.K. Ravi was found dead in his residence in Bangalore city on Monday.
Ravi, who took on the sand mafia in the district, had allegedly received threat calls before his death.
He was the Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement).
Bangalore Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi told reporters: "Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide."
No suicide note was found, the police said.
Ravi was a 2009 batch IAS officer.
