Srinagar/IBNS: Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Mohammed Aijaz Asad has called for adherence to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures despite declaring Srinagar as an orange zone to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner said this in a media briefing here on Monday.

He said the district administration is working very hard in fighting Covid-19 pandemic and the people of the district have extended their cooperation due to which visible decline has been witnessed during the past few days.

Asad said ease in restrictions from today does not mean to violate Covid-19 SOPs but we have to follow Covid appropriate behaviour with more responsibility to make entry into the green zone.

He added it is a minimal unlock and as many as 96 containment zones shall continue to be under Corona Lockdown in Srinagar.

Asad said any laxness on Covid SOPs means incurring heavier losses while urging the left out population of Srinagar to get vaccinated as soon as possible to break the chain of the coronavirus.

With regards to the opening of markets, he said with a decline in Covid positivity rate, guidelines have been issued as per the directions of the State Executive Council.
