Kashmir: Four LeT associates arrested, arms and ammunition recovered in Bandipora

Srinagar/UNI: Security forces arrested four associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) along with arms and ammunition, including three grenades and one UBGL, in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, a police spokesperson said on Monday.

He said acting on a specific input, police along with 13 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 45th battalions of CRPF arrested a militant associate during a search operation in Chandargeer in Bandipora.

He said the accused was identified as Shafat Ahmad Dar, resident of Chandargeer. “Incriminating materials, including a live grenade, were recovered from his possession,” he said.

He said during another search operation in Sadhunara in Bandipora, Police along with 13 RR and 45th BN CRPF arrested three more militant associates.

“The accused were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Khawaja, Abdul Qayoom Margo and Ishfaq Ahmad Dar all residents of Sadhunara,” he said, adding incriminating materials, including two live grenades, one AK magazine, 25 live rounds of AK-47 and one UBGL were recovered from their possession.

He said all the four militant associates are actively involved in providing logistic support and shelter to active militants of LeT.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Hajin and further investigation has been initiated,” he added.
