Kashmir issue: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif names 22 envoys

Islamabad, Aug 27 (IBNS): Further damaging the relation between the two nations, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday nominated 22 parliamentarians as special envoys who will visit world capitals for highlighting the Kashmir issue.

"I have decided to send these parliamentarians for fighting the Kashmir cause in different parts of the world. These special envoys have strength of the people of Pakistan, prayers from the Kashmiri people across the Line of Control, mandate of the parliament and support from the government” the prime minister was quoted as saying by Associated Press of Pakistan.

“I am standing behind these special envoys to ensure their toil for highlighting the Kashmir cause resonates across the world so that I can shake the collective conscience of the international community during my address at the UN this September,” he as quoted as saying.

Kashmir has witnessed violence for the past few days following the death of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani on July 8.

India and Pakistan have exchanged barbs over the issue.

Pakistan on July 10 condemned the killing of top Hizb Commander Burhan Wani in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian security forces.

The neighbouring country also observed 'Black Day' on July 20 over the death of the militant leader.

Nawaz Sharif had said Kashmir is not an internal issue of India.
