Kashmir: Militant killed in Kupwara district
Srinagar, Aug 19 (IBNS): An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Tuesday.
According to defence spokesperson's statement, security forces posted at Barwan village of Tangdhar Sector in frontier Kupwara Division observed suspicious movement during the early hours of Tuesday after troops cordoned the area. As the search operations commenced, the terrorist hiding in the village, opened fire upon the troops.
The fire was retaliated, ensuing a brief encounter.
During the encounter a terrorist was killed,
The body along with an AK- 47 rifle was recovered from the site.
The operations are still in progress.
The identity of the terrorist is yet to be ascertained.
