Kashmir: Militant killed, jawan injured in Anantnag

Srinagar/UNI: A militant was killed and a soldier injured in an encounter which ensued after a patrol party was attack in Anantnag in south Kashmir on Monday evening, official sources said on Tuesday.

They said an Army patrol party came under fire from militants at Arwani, Anantnag, last evening in which a soldier was injured. The injured was rushed to hospital and later shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital.

Later, reinforcement was rushed and entire area was sealed, they said, adding during the searches, militants again opened fire.

They said security forces retaliated and in the encounter a militant identified as Shahid Ahmad, a resident of Khudwani was killed. Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

This was the fourth encounter in south Kashmir during the past two weeks.
