Kashmir re-polling ends peacefully, low turnout recorded

Srinagar, Apr 13 (IBNS): Re-polling in 38 stations of Central Kashmir's Budgam district ended peacefully on Thursday amid tight security and protests.

According to reports, only two percent voter turnout was recorded.

The repolls were held after the election was disrupted due to massive violence that broke out on Apr 9.

Sporadic violence last Sunday led to killing of eight civilians.

The re-polling was reportedly conducted with high security deployment of two CRPF companies per booth, accompanied with deployments of the J&K Police.

On Thursday, Section 144 was imposed in the area as a precautionary measure.
