Kashmiri medical student dies in Russia after being assaulted: Swaraj
Srinagar, Mar 9 (IBNS): A Kashmiri student, who was attacked by local goons in Kazan area of Russia, died on Wednesday, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj wrote on Twitter.
Muhamamd Yasir, a resident of Hassanabad in Rainawari area of Srinagar, was pursuing studies in Russia.
He was admitted in Kazan Trauma Centre, Kazan, after the attack by local goons.
Murtaza Jaffar, a friend of Yasir, informed Sushma Swaraj about the accident through a tweet which read,"@SushmaSwaraj ma’am a kashmiri medical student has been attacked by local goons in Russia, he is in coma. Lost his money and documents too. SOS."
Following the tweet, Swaraj had offered help and wrote, "I have got complete report on Yasir. An Indian Doctor is treating him in Kazan Trauma Centre in Russia."
"Our Embassy officials will go and see Yasir in hospital tomorrow. We will bear all expenses on his treatment. I am pained to hear this. We will take this up with Russian authorities," she had tweeted.
On Wednesday evening, Swaraj said in a tweet: "I am pained to inform that Yasir- an Indian medical student from Srinagar has succumbed to his injuries in Russia."
