Kejriwal announces second phase of odd-even scheme from April 15 in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 11 (IBNS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that the second phase of the odd-even vehicle scheme will be implemented in the national capital from April 15 till the end of the month.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said, "81 per cent of Delhiites who interacted with the government through phone calls, website or neighbourhood gatherings voted in favour of the traffic rules. This rule can be applicable for 15 days in every month."

Like the first phase, women drivers and two-wheelers will once again be exempted from the restrictions.

The odd-even formula by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government allows private cars with odd-numbered plates to run on odd-numbered dates while the even-numbered cars are permitted on even-numbered dates.

"If people of Delhi supports us then this scheme can be implemented for 15 days every month," Kejriwal said.

In order to cub the rising air pollution in Delhi, Kejriwal's government implemented the odd-even scheme for private cars from Januray 1-15 on an experimental basis.
