Kolkata Airport: AI gets a nod from security agencies, services restored

Kolkata, Sept 20 (IBNS): Air India has restored its services following a nod from security officials after a bomb scare brought things to a standstill at the Kolkata airport on Tuesday morning.

"#AIUpdate: #AI729 #CCUGAU has been cleared by the security agencies and boarding has just been announced. Flt likely to take off shortly," the aviation company tweeted about the recent development.

A call claiming that there is a bomb on the Guwahati-bound flight pressed the alarm leading to a heightened security at Kolkata airport, reports said.

The call was received before the flight was scheduled to take off from the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International airport and immediately boarding was stopped.

The plane was taken to isolation and bomb detection and disposal squad started a thorough inspection.

A woman called Air India at 08:20 am and told them about a suspected bomb on the flight to Guwahati, which was scheduled to take off at 9 30 am.
