Kolkata: Left Front holds protest at CBI's office over Saradha scam probe

Kolkata, Jan 12 (IBNS): Demanding the arrest of all Saradha scam beneficiaries and the immediate return of depositor's money, the Left Front (LF) on Tuesday held agitation near the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s office at CGO Complex in Kolkata's Salt Lake area.

A huge number of LF supporters and chit fund sufferers took part in the event, where top LF leaders including LF chairman Biman Basu, CPI-M WB general secretary and leader of Opposition in West Bengal Suryakanta Misra, CPI-M Lok Sabha MP Md. Salim were present.

Attacking the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government, LF chairman Biman Basu said, "If the party of thieves-Trinamool- can be removed from the government, chit fund depositors would get back their money. This movement will be strengthen in all districts of Bengal."

CPI-M leader Suryakanta Mishra addressed the CBI, from the agitation stage, to interrogate chief minister Mamata Banerjee in connection the ongoing probe into Saradha financial scam.

"CBI should send notice to Mamata Banerjee," he said.

"The thieves, who looted poor's money, will be sent to jail. Their properties will be crocked and sold to return depositors' money. Only Left Front can do this," Mishra further said.

A huge police force were station at CGO complex to avoid any untoward situation.

Meanwhile, countering CPI-M's attack over Saradha scam, TMC leader and cabinet minister Firhad Bobby Hakim said, "Maximum chit funds were formed in the time of CPI-M in West Bengal. CPI-M leaders should not say such words shamelessly."
