Kolkata, Apr 2 (IBNS): Two men reportedly attempted suicide at different metro stations in Kolkata on Sunday, throwing metro service out of gear for hours.

According to reports, a middle aged man jumped in front of a Dumdum bound train at Esplanade metro station at around 12:28 pm.

Kolkata Metro staffers and RPF personnel rescued the man injured from the track and sent him to SSKM hospital.

Due to the incident, metro service between Maidan and Central metro stations was disrupted for nearly 40 minutes.

Second incident was reported from Gitanjali (Naktala) metro station in the evening, where a youth attempted suicide by jumping in front of a Kavi Subhas bound train.

After being rescued from the track, he was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Metro service from Kavi Subhas to Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) was hit due to the incident for more than 30 minutes.

However, an official of Kolkata Metro told IBNS that train service from Kavi Subhas to Noapara is completely normal now.
