New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Leader of Congress party in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, in the wake of five migrant labourers being killed by terrorists in Kashmir and demanded to send an all-party delegation to assess the situation in the valley.

"This is in connection with the unfortunate incident that took place yesterday in the Valley where five innocent countrymen were ambushed by terrorists. All the deceased persons are from Bengal and from my home District Murshidabad,  Chowdhury said in the letter to the Prime Minister.

The Congress leader also said, "I would urge before you sir to consider my suggestion and send an all-party delegation to the valley to assess the situation there."

He also urged Mr Modi to extend financial support to victim families from the Prime Minister's relief fund.

Chowdhury also said, in his letter to the Home Minister, that he had suggested certain measures that can be taken in the aftermath of the attack.

"I urge upon your office to take the following steps to ensure safety and security of the people working in the valley," the Congress leader said in his letter to  Shah and added that government should ensure that the deceased persons' families receive their bodies as soon as possible in their home town in the district of Murshidabad, without any unnecessary delay.

"Please ensure that the individual who is now being treated at the Gopi Atal Hospital of the injuries he sustained during the attack be taken care of with utmost sincerity by the authorities and no negligence is shown in treatment of the said person," he urged.

Pointing out that several people are working in various capacities and are employed with various employers in the valley, he said, "it is the responsibility of the government to take utmost care and protection of every individual who is working in the valley."

"A large number of people from Bengal and especially from the Murshidabad district are employed in Kashmir. Please ensure their safety and security as their family members can not contact them. Please ensure that the workers, labourers and employees who are working in the valley can safely return home. Also please open a helpline service for the family members of such people to stay connected with each other and get information about the people working in the valley," Chowdhury added.

On Tuesday, five workers from Murshidabad were shot dead and one injured by unidentified terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam.
