Kumar Vishwas mocks Kejriwal, says he has ‘no sympathy’ after AAP’s Delhi poll rout

New Delhi: Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and poet Kumar Vishwas, known for his sharp wit, made a sarcastic remark on  AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal following the party’s electoral debacle, media reports said.

Vishwas said he felt no sympathy for "a man who crushed the dreams of AAP party workers," and said that Kejriwal had used the party as a vehicle for personal ambition, India Today reported.

"Delhi is now free from him... He used those dreams for his personal ambitions. Today, justice has been delivered," Vishwas, who left AAP in 2018 after a falling out with the leadership, was quoted as saying by the news publication.

He also ridiculed Manish Sisodia’s defeat in Jangpura, recalling how his "apolitical wife" was moved to tears upon hearing the news.

Sisodia, long regarded as Kejriwal’s second-in-command, lost to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah by a narrow margin of 675 votes.

AAP, which was born from the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare, lost its grip on Delhi after 10 years in power, crumbling under corruption allegations that saw top leaders, including Kejriwal, jailed.

The party, which had dominated the 2015 and 2020 elections, was reduced to just 22 seats, allowing the BJP to reclaim Delhi after 27 years.

Kejriwal himself suffered a stunning defeat in his New Delhi constituency, losing to BJP veteran Parvesh Verma by over 4,000 votes.

The loss is a major setback for the former Chief Minister, who had held the post since 2013 after unseating Congress veteran Sheila Dikshit.

Vishwas, once a key figure in AAP, exited the party over ideological differences and has been a vocal critic of its leadership and policies since then.
