Legendary music composer M S Viswanathan passes away

Chennai, Jul 14 (IBNS) Legendary music composer M.S. Viswanathan died at a private hospital here on Tuesday. He was 87.

He had been under treatment in the hospital for age-related problems.

MSV, as he was popularly called in the south Indian film industry, has over 750 films to his credit as music director.

He straddled multiple genres of music and inspired several generations of composers, singers, actors and film-makers.

Popular for composing music in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam industries, MSV started his career as a composer for 1952 film Tamil 'Panam' starring Sivaji Ganeshan.

MSV was popular for his collaboration with fellow composer T.K. Ramamurthy, the duo composing  music for 86 Tamil films.
