New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing his country of 1.3 billion people amid the third phase of anti-Covid-19 lockdown.

In his initial remarks, Modi spoke about how the country learnt about self-reliance through the tough phase of Coronavirus. 

He said, "The situation in the world teaches us that the only path is- a self-reliant India."

"2 lakh PPE and 2 lakh N95 masks are being manufactured today now while we had almost no such production when it struck," he added. 

Highlights of Modi's speech

"India is a culture which considers the country as a mother. India impacts the world."

"The world now believes that India can do well and contribute towards the betterment of humankind."

"The pledge of self-reliance India by 1.3 billion people will be game changer."

"Now again India is on the step of development and firm in the betterment of the world."

"Indian technology experts bailed out the world from Y2K challenge at the turn of the century."

"We will improve supply chain. We will make our products better. We will do it."

Modi referred to the earthquake in Gujarat's Kutch and said amid total hopelessness it again revived. No one can imagine it.

"Strengtheneing of all stakeholders of supply chain is important for meeting the demands."

Pillars: "Quantum jump, an infrastructure of modern India, a system that fulfils the technology driven dream of 21st century. Our demography is vibrant and it is our strength."

"The fifth pillar is demand. The demand and supply chain has to be fully utilized. We have to get involved all stakeholders of supply chain for a good demand. We will strengthen it."

He said India's soil and toil will be involved.

PM Modi announces financial package 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a mega stimulus financial package worth Rs. 20 lakh crore to benefit all sections of the society amid the Covid-19 crisis.

Modi said the package makes 10 per cent of the country's GDP.

The package is dedicated to land, labour, liquidiy and law.

"The package for all farmers as well as middle class people who pays income tax with honesty," said the PM.

Modi said Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will give the details of the package.
