New Delhi, Apr 29 (IBNS): Samajwadi Party on Monday announced it has fielded Tej Bahadur Yadav, the former Border Security Force (BSF) soldier, as its candidate for the Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi.

Yadav is best remembered for his videos posted on social media where he criticized the food served to the forces at the frontlines.

He will now take on PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi which is considered as a crucial Lok Sabha seat.

Modi is the sitting MP from Varanasi.

He won the poll from the seat in 2014.

Samajwadi Party and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party are contesting the Lok Sabha Polls together.
