Lok Sabha polls: BJP accuses TMC of rigging

| | May 03, 2014, at 08:18 pm
New Delhi, May 3 (IBNS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) alleging booth capturing and rigging in nine constituencies in West Bengal by the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) during Apr 30 elections.

The party demanded re-polling in those constituencies.

The BJP also demanded deployment of paramilitary forces at all polling booths in Uttar Pradesh during May 7 and 12 polls.

The BJP said the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) is trying to misuse the state machinery to draw the situation in its favour, especially in Varanasi.

Pertinently, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is contesting from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency.

Meanwhile, the SP said the BJP is making false allegations in fear of defeat.

"The BJP is making baseless statements. It seems they are panicked," said SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav.
