Interacting with media, Sarma said, "How can you claim the document is a red letter in the Assamese society when so many Indians were left out?"

Also Sarma hinted at several other steps the government will come up with to drive out the Bangladeshis.

"NRC is not the quarter final, semi final or final to drive out Bangladeshis.. wait for some time and you will see more finals under the BJP rule," said the saffron leader.

Also the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader seemed surprise to see lower exclusion of people in areas bordering Bangladesh.

More than 3.11 crore people were included in the final list of Assam's National Register of Citizen (NRC) which was released on Saturday.

A total of 3,11,21,004 people were considered eligible to be included in the final list which left out 19,06,657 people.

The NRC authority said the hard copies of the Supplementary List of Inclusions will be available for public view at NRC Seva Kendras (NSK), offices of the Deputy Commissioner and offices of the Circle Officer during office hours. The status of both inclusion and exclusion can be viewed online in the NRC website (www.nrcassam.nic.in) and in the official site of Assam government (https://assam.gov.in).

Any person who is not satisfied with the outcome of the claims and objections can file appeal before the Foreigners Tribunals.

Persons who were excluded from the final NRC will be given 120 days time to file appeal before the Foreigners Tribunals.

There are 100 Foreigners Tribunals in Assam and the state government will set up 221 more Foreigners Tribunals in coming weeks.

Security has been beefed up in the state to avoid any untoward incident. An assembly of more than four people have been prohibited in public spaces.
