Lucknow metro comes to a premature halt on day one

| @indiablooms | Sep 06, 2017, at 04:17 pm
Lucknow, Sep 6 (IBNS): The Lucknow metro which was flagged off amid much fanfare on Tuesday, sadly encountered a premature halt on the inaugural day, after developing a technical glitch during its maiden run on Wednesday morning, reports said.

The train was stranded for nearly an hour between Mawaiya and Durgapuri stations as passengers complained of suffocation and high temperatures inside the compartments.

Earlier in the day, proceedings were flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who also happens to be from the same state.

Following the inaugural ceremony, Singh had tweeted, "Enjoyed my maiden ride in Lucknow Metro today. Now Lucknow will also be known as 'Metro Ka Shahar'. Thank you E Sreedharan ji & Team LMRC."
