Maha govt scraps Mumbai Development Plan

Mumbai, Apr 21(IBNS): The Maharashtra government on Tuesday scrapped the Development Plan 2034 that had triggered controversy and was slammed by conservationists as well as political parties and citizens, reports said.

"On Tuesday, the state cabinet decided to ask BMC to correct mistakes in the draft and prepare a new draft in next 4 months," Mid -Day reported.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced his government's decision to scrap the plan for Mumbai city since the plan in its present form was not acceptable owing to the mistakes that were seen in it.

Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray welcomed the move and tweeted: "Glad to hear the news that the Draft Development Plan of Mumbai is scrapped by CM. Had said it earlier also, must be scrapped and revised."

"Uddhav ji had earlier said that the DP should be scrapped if it doesn't benefit the common Mumbaikar. Their suggestions must be taken first. Uddhav ji has also sent a detailed letter today to the @CMOMaharashtra on what must be included in the revised DP when it is made this year. The DP must have suggestions made by common man, elected representatives, ALMs. It must be comprehensive guideline for Mumbai governance," he said.
