Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde calls for comprehensive review of land allotment to Koyna Project victims

Mumbai/UNI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed officials to conduct a thorough review of land allotments to victims of the Koyna project in seven districts.

The discussion centered on addressing the pending demands of these project victims, with a particular focus on resolving civic facility issues for 22 villages that have undergone rehabilitation in Raigad district.

CM Shinde informed attendees about a recent Bombay High Court order related to land allotments for Koyna project victims.

According to the order, a high-powered committee, chaired by the principal secretary of Relief and Rehabilitation, has been established.

This committee includes divisional commissioners from Konkan and Pune, along with collectors from Satara, Raigad, Pune, Thane, and Solapur.

Shinde emphasized the importance of verifying the eligibility criteria for project victims to ensure that land is allocated to those who have not yet received their allotments.

He also expressed concern about instances where the 7/12 extract has been closed for land that is not in use by project victims and urged a process to determine their return.

22 villages of Koyna project victims have been resettled in Khopoli taluka of Raigad district, but they continue to lack essential civic facilities. In response, the Chief Minister instructed the district collectors to submit a proposal to the Relief & Rehabilitation Department.
