Nashik/UNI: A 26-year-old youth has been arrested by police for allegedly raping a minor girl from his neighbourhood in Ambad area of the city.

On Sunday afternoon, suspect Kailas Kokani took the eight-year-old girl, resident of Mahalaxmi Nagar locality in Ambad, to his house on the pretext of showing her a cartoon show on TV, locked the room from inside and raped her, police said.

After some time, when the girl’s mother started looking for her daughter, she did find her near the house, so she went to Kokani’s room and knocked on the door, but she did not get any response.

Then, the woman called other people from the neighbourhood and forced Kokani to open the door.

At last, when the suspect opened the door, the mother found the girl in a state of shock inside and then the victim narrated the ordeal to her mother.

Hearing about incident, irate residents allegedly thrashed Kokani and then handed him over to the Ambad police, who arrested the accused and filed the rape case against him, sources added.
