Thane/UNI: A 50-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly providing false information to the police and misleading them in Bhiwandi town of this district of Maharashtra.

The accused has been identified as Krishna Mahadev Chevale, a resident of Bramhand Nagar.

Talking to UNI, DCP Zone-II Bhiwandi Rajkumar Shinde stated, "Around 0100 hours today, Thane police control room received a message from a caller who informed that two women and a man have been murdered and they were being taken in a vehicle. The caller also informed the police that the bodies were presently at the Ashirwad Hospital at Kamathghar of Bhiwandi."

Subsequently, the control room alerted the Bhiwandi Police, which in turn, sent a team to the said location, however, it was discovered that no such hospital exists at the place.

The team also traced the vehicle, in which the bodies were shoved according to the caller, near the Tuljabawani Temple in Kamathghar.

The car belonged to a local resident and was not bearing signs of the crime as told by the accused.

Finally, the accused caller Chevale was traced and confessed that he made the prank call.

Offence against the accused has been filed under the IPC section 182 with the Narpoli Police Station.
