Maharashtra: One held on cheating charges in Thane

Thane, Sep 27 (UNI) Police arrested a suspect on Thursday on the alleged charges of cheating four partners of a construction company including the leader of the Shiv Sena group in the Thane municipal corporation, the police said on Friday.

Police said the alleged accused, Awadhesh Singh along with two others Sandeep Singh and Vinay Kumar had wooed the partners of the construction firm of lucrative business by getting them contracts in different firms.

They took Rs 38 lakh from the partners and never contacted them and never returned their money. The cheque of Rs 11 lakh which was given was dishonoured.

The trio cheated around 25 persons to the tune of over Rs 1.50 crores the police said.

The victims are Ramesh Chavan, Sadashiv Godse, Ganesh Patil and Dileep Bartakke (the shiv sena leader), who are the partners of the construction firm.

The police are on the look out of two other accused who are named in the compliant relating to the cheating which happened in 2017- 2018.

They were booked under sections 420 and 34 of the IPC, the police added.
