Nanded, May 15 (UNI) A sessions court here on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment to a senior citizen for raping a minor domestic help at his residence in Dattanagar area of city in June last year and then impregnating her.

Arguing on behalf of the prosecution, advocate Sanjay Latkar told the court that on June 26 last year at around 1000 hours, the 66- year-old accused came from behind, gagged the victim while she was working at his house, dragged her to bedroom and raped her.

As a result, later on, she conceived and delivered a male child at Vatsalya Sudhar Grah in Nashik.

Finding the accused guilty of committing rape, Additional Sessions Judge Shilpa Todkar sentenced Brijmohan Gokul Prasad Jaiswal to two life imprisonments -- one under section 3(3)(2)(5) of the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Prevention of Atrocities Act and another under section 376(2) of the Indian Penal Code. Both the sentences will run concurrently.

The court also slapped a fine of total Rs 51,000 on him, of which Rs 50,000 would be paid to the victim as compensation.

The judge also issued an order to pay Rs 50,000 to the victim girl.
