Major revamp on cards for Uttar Pradesh Congress after Lok Sabha election results

| @indiablooms | May 22, 2019, at 09:35 pm

Lucknow, May 22 (UNI): Irrespective of the performance of the party during the Parliament results to be announced on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Congress is set for a major revamp including change of state president in the coming days.

During interaction with the party workers and leaders soon after taking up charge as general secretary, in-charge UP East, Priyanka Gandhi had clearly said that she was not happy with the present set-up in Uttar Pradesh but at the same time she added that the elections were not far away so the party had to go with the same organisation."

"Priyanka had witnessed that how the organisation has been handled by the present president Raj Babbar as well as some of his predecessors, so she was unable to execute her plan in the present elections, she would now come with new president and also revamp the entire congress unit in the state as well as local district level Party committees,” the leader revealed, adding that a strong team would be re-constituted so that a campaign against wrong doing of Bharatiya Janta Party government in the state could be exposed and the voice of the people could be raised more powerfully.

Another former MLA and a senior Congress leader claimed a entire revamp in the UPCC is the need of the hour as every second leader visiting the UPCC has been included by Babbar in the media team and yet the party had failed to round up the BJP for their failures. He pointed that Mr Babbar's main operating team had no strong political background which also adversely affected the party fortunes as senior and loyal party leaders had stopped from visiting the party office.

The leader claimed that now with the change of guard in UP and revamping of the state unit, another most sought necessity is that Priyanka should take charge of entire UP and visit at least a week in a month in UPCC headquarters so that the party could place itself as one of the top contenders in UP in 2022.
