New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Wednesday expressed her shock over Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot who was 'missing in action', while foiling Pakistan's attempt to target military installations on Indian side, and demanded to Centre for his safe return.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Maliwal said,'Deeply disturbed with the capture of our IAF pilot by Pakistan. GOI should ensure his safe return to India and a fitting response to Pakistan!'

India on Wednesday said Pakistan's attempt to target military installations on Indian side were foiled but in the process one MiG 21 was lost and the pilot is 'missing in action'.

'The Pakistan Air Force was detected and the IAF responded instantly. In that aerial engagement, one Pakistan Air Force fighter aircraft was shot down by a MiG 21 Bison of the IAF. The Pakistani aircraft was seen by ground forces falling from the sky on the Pakistan side. In this engagement, we have unfortunately lost one MiG 21,' MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar said.
