Mamata Banerjee opposed Operation Sindoor for her vote bank politics: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Kolkata on Sunday when he targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said she opposed Operation Sindoor for her vote bank politics.

Shah said: "Mamata Didi has crossed all limits for her vote her bank politics. Under Operation Sindoor, we conducted a deep strike 100 kilometers into Pakistan, targeting their headquarters. Numerous terrorists were killed, but this seems to trouble Mamata Ji. She expressed opposition to Operation Sindoor through a regrettable statement."

The Indian Armed Forces targeted nine terror bases in Pakistan and PoK in response to Pahalgam terror attack which left 26 people, mostly non-Muslim tourists, killed on April 22.

He said: "By doing so, you not only opposed the mission but also disregarded the sentiments and emotions of the women of our country."

Shah accused Mamata Banerjee of facilitating illegal immigration from Bangladesh.

Shah said: "Mamata Banerjee has left Bengal's borders open for Bangladeshis. Infiltration is taking place in Bengal with her blessings."

He further said: "Mamata Ji, we requested land to build a fence along the border, which would effectively prevent infiltration from Bangladesh into India."

"However, you have deliberately avoided providing the required land, allowing unchecked infiltration to continue and thereby expanding your vote bank. It is evident that your priority lies in securing your nephew's political succession rather than addressing the pressing issue of border security," he said.

He said only a BJP-led government in Bengal can stop this infiltration.

Shah said Bengal will vote to elect the BJP-led government in the state next year.

"Your time is up.  BJP will form the government in West Bengal in 2026," he said.

Bengal will vote to elect a new Assembly next year.

Banerjee ended the Left-Front rule in Bengal and came to power in the state in 2011.

Since 2011, she has won two consecutive terms in the state.
