Mamata claims CPI-M resorting to violence to enforce shutdown, says Kerala unit better than its Bengal counterpart

Kolkata/UNI: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday accused the CPI-M of resorting to violence to enforce the shutdown, saying the Kerala unit of the CPI-M was better than its counterpart in West Bengal.

"I strongly condemn the violent method of protest. The CPI(M) is destroying whatever my government created," Banerjee told reporters at Sagar Island in South 24 Parganas."Is it the proper method of protesting? By planting bombs under trains? I think this is a method of hooliganism in the name of strike," she said.

The 24-hour Bharat Bandh (nationwide strike) called by ten Central Trade Unions (CTU) to protest against the Narendra Modi government's "anti-people policies" have hit normal life in different parts of the country on Wednesday.

Banerjee pointed out after reports of planting crude bombs on the trains tacks being reported from North 24 Parganas.Incidents of sporadic violence have been reported from different parts of West Bengal.

"Tell us how many bandhs have been organised by the CPI-M in Delhi or how many protest march the party has taken out there," Banerjee pointed out and said the CPI-M calls bandh at least four times in Bengal every year.

"The issues are good and the CPI-M should protest democratically instead of resorting to violence," said Banerjee alleging that the CPI-M has now become a signboard after destroying West Bengal in its 34 years of rule. Banerjee claimed that the CPI-M has lost its ideology and it is engaged in destructive politics.

She said her government did not believe in shooting down the people for resorting to violence and said the law will take its own course against the trouble-makers.
