Man lynched by mob in Uttar Pradesh over beef rumour

Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, Sept 30 (IBNS) A man was lynched by a mob near Delhi on Monday night, allegedly over rumours that his family had eaten beef, reports said.

Mohammad Akhlaq, 50 and his son, 22, were dragged out of their home by local residents in Dadri in Uttar Pradesh, and beaten with bricks. Akhlaq died on way to hospital while the condition of his son is critical.

The mob even allegedly attacked the women of the family which has been living in the village for many years.

Six persons were arrested in connection with the incident leading further tension in the area as villagers clashed with police prompting them to open fire in the air.

The police are investigating into the case.
