Bengaluru, Nov 3 (IBNS) A man with a folded knife in his trouser pocket was held at the entrance of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's official residence on Monday triggering a commotion, reports said.
The Chief Minister was not at his residence at the time of the incident.

According to police,  the incident took place around 10 a.m. when the middle-aged man, later identified as Lingaraju  had come to the residence of the Chief Minister with a petition seeking financial assistance towards his medical treatment after he reportedly suffered a helicopter accident.

A beep by the metal detector alerted the security personnel when the man was about to enter and a search led to the discovery of the knife. The man was  Immediately  detained and taken away for questioning to the High Grounds police station.

Learning that Lingaraju hails from Mysuru, a police team contacted the Superintendent of Mysuru and came to know that the suspect had a history of mental illness and had undergone treatment.

The 54-year-old was produced before a magistrate under the provision of The Mental Health Act and he is likely to be admitted to a medical facility or handed over to his relatives.
