Manipur attack : NIA gets custody of top NSCN(K) leader

Guwahati, June 29 (IBNS) : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday took into custody a top leader of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang or NSCN(K) who was allegedly involved in the conspiracy behind the June 4 killing of 18 army personnel in Manipur.

Khumlo Abi Anal, the regional commander of NSCN(K), was arrested by the Manipur police from Lamphel in Imphal city on June 16.

According to reports, the NIA, which is probing into the attack, took NSCN(K) leader into custody.

The newly-floated outfit comprised with several splinter groups like NSCN(K), ULFA(I), Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), NDFB(S) had claimed responsibility of the deadly attack.

At least 18 army soldiers were killed in the attack by the militant groups in Chandel district of Manipur bordering with Myanmar on June 4.

It is one of the worst attacks on Indian security forces by militants.
