Manipur based KCP militant nabbed in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati, Mar 8 (IBNS): Security forces apprehended a hardcore militant of Manipur based outfit group Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district on Tuesday evening, officials said on Wednesday.

Kohima based Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said that, based on specific intelligence input, the Khonsa Battalion under the aegis of DAO division conducted a operation at Kunsa village on Tuesday evening about presence of a militant trying to infiltrate into Indian territory from Myanmar.

During the operation, security personnel had apprehended a hardcore militant of KCP group, who identified as Noaba Metei.

“In spot interrogation he admitted allegiance to KCP, he further divulged that he has been with the banned outfit since July 2016 and was undergoing basic training at Langkhaw camp. He further admitted to being forcibly recruited by the banned outfit which highlights the evil of forced recruitment carried out by these factions where the youth are forced and threatened into joining these terrorist groups crushing their dreams and further prospects,” Colonel Konwer said.

“The parents of Noaba had filed an FIR at Lamlai, Manipur after he was forcibly taken by KCP. Noaba is barely 17 years of age, it brings out the cruelty of insurgents that they forcibly recruited a young boy to lead a life of an insurgent rather than let him study and lead a peaceful life,” the top cops said.

Security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in South Arunachal Pradesh for domination of Indo-Myanmar border and this apprehension is a reflection of its capabilities.
