Maoists dump containing explosives, guns making tools unearthed in Telangana

Kakinada/UNI: The anti-Naxal squad during the intensive combing operations has unearthed a huge Maoists dump containing explosive materials, empty cartridge boxes and machine tools used for manufacturing of crude guns and other deadly weapons in a cave of a hillock in dense forests in Selaganuri area of Y Ramavaram Mandal, police said on Friday.

The dump contains 46 gelatin sticks, two cartons of screws, nuts and bolts used in explosives,12 bore gun cartridge empty boxes numbering 93, crude lathe machine, cutters, filing and grinding equipment.

Superintendent of police Adnan Nayeem Asmi told the media that the Maoists kept the dump in the cave for creating large scale violence through installing landmines at vulnerable places targeting the police and the non-officials.

The SP said that a case was registered under explosive substances act at Gurtedu police station and is being investigated.

He has complimented the additional SP Operation wing Arif Hafeez for prompt action in averting possible disasters and major incidents unearthing the dump.

CRPF Commandant Ashok Kumar of CRPF 42 Bn who took an active part in unearthing the dump was also present.
