Massive blaze guts illegal firecracker factory in WB, 1 killed

Kolkata, May 18 (IBNS): A major fire, which broke out in an unauthorized firecracker factory in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Wednesday, killed one youth and left two others injured, reports said.
According to reports, the fire was first noticed at around 10 am. in the firecracker factory at Uttar Hajibur Rajapara area under Diamond Harbour Police Station limits in South 24 Parganas.
 
As many as two fire tenders and police force rushed to the spot. Firefighters and locals doused the massive blaze in few hours.
 
Three persons were seriously injured in the accident and rushed to Diamond Harbour Hospital. One of them, son of the factory's owner- Abhinandan Halder, died later in the hospital and remaining two have been referred to Kolkata's hospital.
 
According to officials, the fire started due to an explosion in firecrackers, which were being made inside the factory.
 
Police have sealed the illegal factory and started investigation into the incident, while firecracker factory's owner, Bablu Halder, is still absconding.
