Mayawati slams EC for not acting against PM Modi for alleged poll code violation

Lucknow, Apr 25 (IBNS): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has attacked the Election Commission for not taking action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi despite allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct in the election season.

Mayawati tweeted, "PM Modi is moving freely without care despite facing numerous serious allegations of Model Code of Conduct violation, thanks to the ECI. That's why he has started crossing the limit so far as respect for women is concerned. Haven't BJP/RSS imposed a lajawab neta upon the country."

Days ago, Modi was embroiled in a controversy for holding a roadshow and giving speeches after casting his vote in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on Mar 23.

The Election Commission had sought report to examine the speeches delivered by Modi.

In another tweet, Mayawati, who has been Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister four times, attacked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said Modi wouldn't return to power.

She tweeted, "Why is BJP & co. repeatedly insulting masses by claiming that the Oppositions lack leadership for post of Prime Minister? 'Who after Nehru' was the arrogant question asked earlier too. But people gave a befitting reply to all this nonsense & will surely give another one shortly."

In Uttar Pradesh, BSP is fighting the polls in an alliance with Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).
