New Delhi/IBNS: Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said contact tracing will be scaled up in the national capital and followed diligently for all Covid-19 positive patients using the Arogya Setu app amid massive spike in the coronavirus cases registered this month after lockdown norms were relaxed in the city.

A serological survey will be conducted from June 27 till July 10 on 20,000 samples while the Covid-19 containment zones will be delineated to measure the extent of spread of the virus in Delhi, the Home Ministry said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday chaired a review meeting to discuss the Covid-19 crisis in Delhi, a week after he held a string of meetings with the top Delhi officials, including Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

According to Dr VK Paul committee, the Delhi government has been asked to form a strategy by Monday and district level teams by Tuesday and work out a plan to delineate the containment zone by June 26.

A total survey of the containment zone has to be conducted by June 30 and the whole of Delhi has to be surveyed by July 6, the MHA statement said.

Further, the Home Ministry has said the survey should also collect details about the deceased relating to their treatment, the number of days they stayed at home and in hospital or if they were treated in hospital or kept in home isolation. The department has also asked the government to mention the reason about treating a Covid patient at home and not transferring them to the nearest Covid care hospital.

The statement said all Covid-19 positive cases have to be taken to the hospitals compulsorily except those who have enough space in their home and don't have comorbidities.

Delhi recorded the highest single day spike on Saturday with 3,630 Covid-19 cases which dipped a bit on Sunday with 3,000 fresh cases, according to the health department data.
