Mob lynches two suspected cattle thieves in central Assam

Guwahati, Apr 30 (IBNS) : A mob lynched two persons, suspecting them to be cattle thrives, in central Assam’s Nagaon district on Sunday.

According to the reports, a mob lynched two youth, between the age group of 20-25 years, suspecting them to be cattle thieves at Jalmoigaon near Kachamari under Jajori police station in the central Assam district.

Nagaon district Superintendent of Police Debraj Upadhay said the youths succumbed to their injuries while they were admitted at hospital in serious condition.

The deceased youths were identified as Abu Hanifa and Riyazuddin Ali.

According to the reports of local media, a group of people intercepted the youths on suspicion of stealing cattle and attacked them in paddy field.

“While the police personnel reached the area, the youths were severely injured and they have been immediately rushed to Nagaon civil hospital, where the youths succumbed their injuries,” the top Assam police cop said.

Meanwhile, Nagaon police had registered a case and started investigation into the murder.


The top police official said that, no arrest have been made so far in the lynching incident.
