Modi 2.0 cabinet: Piyush Goyal, Smriti Irani, Babul Supriyo get calls from Amit Shah

New Delhi, May 30 (IBNS): Calls finally went out this morning from BJP president Amit Shah to those who had been chosen by him and Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi to be part of the Union cabinet in the NDA 2 government.

Shah asked those who he called to reach the Prime Minister's official residence this evening, from where they would head to Rashtrapati Bhavan for the swearing-in ceremony.

Among those who received the call are Piyush Goyal, who many speculate could be the next finance minister after Arun Jaitley formally requested PM Modi that he be kept out of the cabinet because of health reasons. Sushma Swaraj will also be in the cabinet. So will be "giant-slayer" Smriti Irani, who snatched away Amethi from Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Nirmala Sitharaman is also being retained.

From Bengal, where the BJP made remarkable inroads this time, Asansol MP Babul Supriyo got the call.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, who beat Shatrughan Sinha from the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, also got Shah's call. So did Nitin Gadkari, Sadananda Gowda, Arjun Meghwal, Kiren Rijiju, Prakash Javadekar, Ramdas Athavale, Jitender Singh, Suresh Angadi Kailash Chowdhury, Prahlad Joshi and G Kishan Reddy, reports said.

The BJP will give all NDA members one portfolio each, media reports said.

It is not clear whether Amit Shah, who won from the Gandhinagar constituency with a record margin this time, will be a part of the ministry.

The ministers are expected to take the oath today while the portfolios would be declared next week.
